Discussion : Raman Sir showed demo of LTSP ( Linux Terminal Server Project ) .
He used his debian laptop as LTSP server and connected one client laptop as client.
He explained how the LTSP is working very clearly.

I didnt send 1day1cmd for past 3 days due to mobile problem. And i didnt update in blog about few days cmds. Its tough to type in blog as well as in mobile.

But now very happy.

Mr.X from ilugc, donated Huawei E1550 idea NetSetter sms dongle to send 1day1cmd (to Kanchi Lug). [He requested me to, pl dont mention his name ]

He voluntarily asked me ,’ how you are sending sms throughout the India?’

I replied, ‘from mobile only i am sending sms to all’.

He came forward and ordered the sms dongle before 2 weeks. 🙂

And now i have that device in my hand. 🙂

Using gnokii and gammu & Ruby/Python script i am sending ODOC to 225 people through the nation without any trouble from today (21.07.2010).

Dawn of the Net Tamil Version

Hi,

This is Priya.

I am very glad to say this.  Yesterday I finished my “Dawn of the Net” work.

This is the tamil version of the video “Warriors of the Net” available in www.warriorsofthe.net.

How I did:

I did the work with my friend’s help. In first thing I thank to Mr. Shrinivasan, who encouraged me to do the work then Bala Krishnan, who translated the whole video into Tamil and the KanchiLug Rocks for their help.

For the work I used audacity, mencoder and ffmpeg.

First we translated the video into tamil. Then we split the video based on the time line.

Then I gave dubbing in several clips and merged all the clips in correct time line used by audacity.

Then had to separate the video and audio in the English version

mencoder -idx -ovc copy -nosound input.avi -o outfile.avi

To merge the video and the tamil dubbed audio

mencoder yourvideo -audiofile youraudio -ovc copy -oac copy -o result.mpg

To convert the video format into mp4

ffmpeg -i video_origine.mpg video_finale.mp4

Finally I did.

He told many stories and clearly explained  about that. ( Everything in english only)

Nice. one and half an hour he gave a wonderful speech.

Then myself and Shrinivasan explained regarding Kanchilug activities to the new Kanchilug members

and how they can learn in upcoming days.

Demo on Sri Kanchi Krishna collage:

Our KanchiLug guys again took a one day interactive seminar in Sri Kanchi Krishna collage of arts & science on 09.07.2010.

Students of  B.Sc., Computer Science ,and M.Sc. IT are attended the session.

After a long gap we gone to Krishna college for the session.

We started 11am.. Praveen explain about  whole information’s about Foss
and Gnu/linux.

Then i(yassir) showed some comfiz graphics,  python and some tools.
Then Praveen explain about the job opportunities in linux.

To give more attractive session as usual we played the big bug bunny video.
At last Suresh spoke about kanchilug and their activities.
Then we finished our session at 12.15pm.

We thank to the collage H.O.D and principal to gave the session for us.

Demo on Pachaiyappa’s collage :

Our KanchiLug guys took a one day seminar in my collage( pachaiyappa’s collage) on 07.07.2010.

Students of  B.Sc., Computer Science , B.C.A , M.Sc. IT and M.sc., C.S.T are attend the session.

At first we started at 3pm.. our guest speaker  Mr. Shrinivasan (ilugc – Co-ordinator) gave a clear idea about what is software freedom, foss and Gnu/linux. Then he spoke more and more about foss and its advantages.

Our Kanchilug guy Rajkumar showed some comfiz graphics then Bala shared his views on  python and Suresh showed  playing 3D-Games in Gnu/linux

Then our collage old students and kanchilug members Malathi and Suji spoke about their final year projects done in linux. Then they explain about the job opportunities in linux.

To give more attrative session we play the big bug bunny video and students impressed on Shrini anna speach and finally we spoke about kanchilug and their activities. Atlast we finished our demo at 5.15pm

We thank our collage Principal and H.O.D to gave a  complete collage session to us.

First they guys are introduced by themselves. After then the Session was started by Rajkumar, he has taken introduction about LUG. In that he explained chennai LUG,kanchi LUG  also he tells when it was started, how it is running and so on. Then he starts the delight of FOSS, he explained totally about FOSS and what is FOSS, Why FOSS etc., like these questions he gave a nice explanation. They inspired in that FOSS.

Rajkumar started the class with the joomla installation. He described step by step installation in joomla. During that Shrinivasan explains what is joomla and scope of joomla so that everyone have interest to install the joomla  and study the joomla. After the installation he also created a sample website in local system. Documentation for joomla installation will be posted soon.

Then Arulalan started to tell lot of stories as usually in his own style he gave some ideas to handle the morning batch for upcoming days.
