FOSS Lab setup at MIT

Place : MIT, Chrompet, Chennai.

Date : 13/03/2011.

On behalf of KLUG, We people, Balakrishnan, Nagaraj, Manimaran and myself(Selvamani) went to MIT, Chrompet for contributing the FOSS Lab set up.  Mr. Vigesh Nandakumar, MIT student, was taken the responsibility to help in setting up foss lab setup on behalf of his Computer Department. Mr. Baskar from Linex Xpert Systems and his collegue started the lab setup around 10.00 AM with two servers.  They started the servers and made link with the network in the lab.

Next, Mr. Baskar gave the demo in first two system for BIOS settings to install Fedora 14 and Fedora 13. There were above 45 systems in that lab. As he said, we changed the BIOS settings for all the systems. To avoid the network traffic and speed up the installation, we  started to install Fedora 14 in 15 systems per server. It took around 3 hours to complete the installation by each server.

The installation completed in 30 systems in post-lunch. Finally, we again started to install  Fedora 13 to the rest of the systems which are all have the low RAM size. Then, we winded up from there by the evening. It was good experience to us in setting up FOSS Lab.
